Need a new roof for your industrial building?

It’s the news that no business owner wants to hear – especially since your roof is a vital part of your business and allows operations to run smoothly.

However, the longer you put off replacing your industrial roof, the worse it will get – costing you even more money and disruption!

Below, we outline the problems that can occur if you don’t take advice from industrial roofing contractors when an inspection identifies the need for a roof replacement.

    Water damage

An industrial roof can leak for all sorts of reasons – be it a blocked drain, gutter or downspout.

However, if your roof is old or in despair, the risk of it leaking is even greater and could potentially lead to electrical faults and equipment damage. So, you need to move quickly and get it replaced as soon as possible.

    Structural damage and roof collapse

If left to worsen, leaks will eventually lead to structural damage. This is because moisture will continue to seep into your roof decking and supporting structures, causing them to rot and wear away before collapsing.

Although it may start with your faulty roof, structural damage can compromise the integrity of your building and affect your entire business – putting you, your employees, and your customers at serious risk.

    Mould and mildew

An old, leaking roof allows water into your business premises and increases the risk of mould forming on the roof and within the walls, which can have a detrimental effect on human health.

Mould can impact the integrity of the roofing materials too. When left untreated, it can break them down, causing significant damage to your building.

    Fire hazards

Some people put off roof replacements in an attempt to save time and money. But without realising it, they’re actually putting their industrial premises at risk of a fire.

For example, water from the roof can come into contact with the electrical wiring inside your building and get into the cables and outlets. Damaged electrical appliances run the risk of sparking and igniting, which poses a threat to everyone on-site – not to mention your valuable assets.

    Contact industrial roofing contractors today

As soon as you spot any signs of wear and tear – be it sagging, rotting, water damage, mould or moss growth – it’s worth contacting roofing contractors to conduct a survey.

Having a site survey carried out will diagnose any problems and outline whether your roof needs repairing or replacing.

If your industrial roof is damaged beyond repair, you mustn’t delay roof replacement. You’ll only end up paying twice as much otherwise. Plus, the longer you leave it, the more dangerous it will get.

To discuss your project requirements with an expert, get in touch with the team of industrial roofing contractors at Roofing Consultants Group. As one of the UK’s most accredited roofing contractors, offering more than 100 years of experience, they can handle all types of industrial roofing.
